Who are you? Sharepoint

Who are you?

Well every company has a website for internal, external purpose. So why not make life simple by using Sharepoint.  You can use me as a secure place to store, organize, share, and access information from almost any device. All you need is a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, or Firefox.

Why Sharepoint, What's so special ?

Great Question !!! Because I am  All in one package
  •  Intranet
This is the internally facing site everyone in your company can sign in to and find news, announcements, scheduled tasks, and access to a variety of information.  SharePoint also provides tools for setting up employee social networking platforms and company wikis. A company’s intranet serves as a kind of meeting room and planning seminar that everyone in the company visits and attends throughout their workdays.
  • Content Management
SharePoint gives businesses a shared space to store documents so they’re not locked away on any one person’s hard drive. Documents stored on SharePoint can be accessed by anyone in the company. SharePoint also allows you and your coworkers to work simultaneously on a single document, saving previous versions, and tracking updates.

  • Collaboration
It’s easy for everyone to stay up-to-date and coordinate their efforts on projects when you’re talking about a dozen or so people working out of the same office building. You can sign in to SharePoint from any desktop or mobile device, and you can use it to have constant access to information on project statuses, client histories, the locations and schedules of coworkers, and anything else related to the project.

  • Extranet
One great example of this web based sharing, is a company extra net where users are not all in one location or authentication domain. Using form based authentication, accounts can be created for people across physical and company boundaries. By allowing one place for shared documents around a task rather than a corporate entity, SharePoint goes way beyond the common file share

  • Business Intelligence
SharePoint makes it easy to search through all your company’s files, but beyond that it can help you discover larger patterns. And it can display trends over time or relationships between different inputs with intuitively graspable graphs and charts. Once you’ve decided on a new course of action,

My journey with Sharepoint.

I started my journey with Sharepoint in 2007 with WSS 3.0, then moved to MOSS 2007, Sharepoint 2010 and now Sharepoint 2013. Hey wait now Sharepoint 2016 is also in market so lets know something about that as well in coming articles.  As you can see SharePoint is a very large platform that can help organizations in many areas. It’s important to have a general understanding of the different products and all the major features in order to use SharePoint more effectively. Hopefully this article has provided a good first step on your understanding of SharePoint. If you can't find the answer to your questions there you can always contact me and I'll be happy to answer as best as I can.Feel free to leave your views in the comments section below.
